Recently, U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates asked all four services to develop innovative methods to provide field commanders with more intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft over Iraq and Afghanistan.

The push to field MRAPs may be costly

The Pentagon's goal to ship thousands of Mine Resistant Ambush Protective vehicles (MRAPs) to Iraq may lower performance and raise costs, according to a Government Accountability Office (GAO) report issued on July 15.

Israel Navy may purchase four littoral combat ships
July 23, 2008   
Israel has selected the Lockheed-designed LCS 1 Freedom littoral combat ship and may purchase up to four of these vessels, to which it plans to fit its own missile and electronic systems.

Croatian Navy to buy two Finnish missile boats
July 23, 2008   
On July 17 Croatia signed a 10-million euro ($16-million) deal with the Finnish company, Patria, to buy two second-hand guided missile frigates.

Texas Instruments has introduced what it says is the industry's highest integrated 2.4-GHz, RF front end for low-power and low-voltage wireless applications.

Mimix Broadband has introduced a dual, high dynamic range amplifier operating from 0.05 to 4.0 GHz and housed in a RoHS-compliant SOIC-8 package.

Anritsu has introduced new options for its MS271xB family of economy microwave spectrum analyzers that create a cost-efficient method to quickly and precisely measure the performance of TD-SCDMA components.
