DeWALT®, a leading manufacturer of industrial power tools, recently announced the launch of its first heavy-duty pavement breaker (D25980K). This new breaker is designed with innovative features and patented technology to provide end users with increased durability, performance, and low vibration. It is also the first breaker in its class to include a two-year free service warranty.

Earth-Moving
Backhoe loader
The Caterpillar 446D backhoe loader features a Cat 3114 DIT 110-hp engine and is designed for jobs such as road building and bridge work. The 446D has an operating weight of 25,357 pounds, a dig depth of 16 feet, 8 inches, a lift capacity of 9,572 pounds and a bucket breakout force of 13,838 pounds. Optional pilot-operated joystick controls add excavator technology and ease of operation to the 446D. Low-effort controls are designed to reduce operator fatigue and increase efficiency. A standard pattern changer allows for easy switching between backhoe and excavator control patterns.

Loader backhoe
Terex's TX970B loader backhoe is designed to give contractors the versatility of a wheel loader and the functionality of an excavator in one package. Weighing in at 17,633 pounds, the TX970B offers a maximum digging depth of 15 feet, 11 inches and a standard lift capacity of 8,783 pounds. The 94-hp Perkins turbo-induction engine and powershift transmission provides power and clutch-less operation. While the front loader end of the machine provides mechanical controls, the backhoe end features advanced piloted controls, which make it operate like an excavator. The ergonomically designed joystick with adjustable armrests is designed to increase operator comfort and visibility.

Lifting
Vertical mast lift
JLG Industries introduces the model 20MVL self-propelled vertical mast lift. The MVL has a 19-feet, 6-inch platform height and a platform capacity of 350 pounds. The mobile vertical lift has an extended life gearbox, single joystick drive and steer control, automatic rapid re-charge battery charger and two sealed 100-amp-hour maintenance-free batteries.

"The MVL incorporates direct electric drive. This feature provides significantly improved duty cycles and reduced leak points," says Jeff Ford, product parent for JLG. "The MVL also utilizes a joystick and gearbox similar to a construction grade scissor lift giving it an edge in durability."

For Contractors
Welder/generator
With 23-hp Kohler and 22-hp Robin engine options available, Miller Electric's Bobcat 250 gas-powered welder/generator offers additional horsepower providing stronger welding output and stronger generation power.

"The extra horsepower will allow users to weld faster or increase deposition rates," says John Leisner, product manager for Miller Electric. "It will be especially important to those who need extra welding power for air carbon arc gouging or running larger diameter wires, or those who need increased generator power for plasma cutting. Plus these models are better able to handle sudden loads, such as motor starting."

Breakers
Featuring an advanced vibration reduction system, the new CP 1210 handheld breakers from Chicago Pneumatic Construction Tools are designed for light-to-medium demolition of floors, pavement, frozen ground and masonry walls. Thanks to an improved valve system, the new CP 1210 series provides 20-percent more hitting power than previous models. Each series model requires 59 cfm of air and delivers 1,400 blows per minute. The breakers are offered in three versions -- basic, silenced and vibration-reduced -- and a variety of shank sizes are available to accommodate all applications.

Ground thawing/concrete curing blanket
The Power Blanket is designed to make curing concrete and thawing frozen ground more affordable, fast and easy. It can thaw 4 to 8 inches of ground overnight. The curing blanket maintains optimum curing temperature at 65 to 70 degrees with ambient to minus 10 degrees. Power Blankets can be plugged together to cover large areas. Power Blankets are 100-percent waterproof and are designed to be extremely durable and are easily repaired if ripped or torn. At only 1-inch thick, one person can maneuver the Power Blanket. There are five sizes and three styles from which to choose.

Keyless ignition system
Keytroller's keyless ignition simple system eliminates the ignition key with one lighted start/stop button. The button is enabled with the operator's company RFID card. A user simply flashes the card over the dash, and the button is illuminated green if accepted. Then the operator presses the lit button once to start the engine and again to stop. The system can be mounted to any internal combustion or electric vehicle.
