versus every 500 hours, and front-pin lubrication intervals have gone

Backhoe
Komatsu's PC1250-8
backhoe, and PC1250LC-8 backhoe and hydraulic shovel (pictured) have
operating weights of 234,780 to 254,000 pounds and the hydraulic shovel
has an operating weight of 244,790 pounds. Both machines have a 672-hp
flywheel. Bucket capacities for the backhoes range from 4.4 to 8.8 cubic
yards, depending on boom and arm length, material density and
application conditions, and 8.5 cubic yards for the hydraulic shovel.
The two models are equipped with a wireless technology that sends
machine operating information to a secure website. Data, such as
operating hours, location, cautions and maintenance alerts, are relayed
to the web application for analysis.

Power trowels
Stone Construction
Equipment now offers a lighter-weight 36-inch model to its Smooth
Operator power trowel line. The CF36L, weighing 23 pounds less than the
standard 36-inch CF364, is well suited for basement work because its
lighter weight makes it easier to carry down stairs. It is also suited
for jobs where the concrete hasn't cured enough to support a heavier
trowel. The CF36L features a 36-inch working width, Stone's patented
DynaClutch safety system and the optional patented ProPitch quick blade
leveling system for the fine-tuned blade adjustment.

Tracking and recovery
system
LoJack offers a tracking and
recovery solution designed for construction equipment and commercial
vehicles called the LoJack Ruggedized System. The system is designed to
protect equipment from theft. The product is integrated with law
enforcement agencies in LoJack markets -- the company's tracking
computers (pictured) are installed in police vehicles, helicopters and
fixed-wing aircraft and are used to track and recover stolen assets. The
product is based on radio frequency technology. LoJack is installed on
the equipment in a hidden location; no external antenna gives away its
presence or location.

GPS locator
DeWalt's MobileLock GPS locator
and anti-theft alarm aims to help professional contractors better
protect mobile assets on jobsites. The global positioning system feature
allows contractors to locate the MobileLock unit in real time using the
Internet. The portable, wireless unit can be mounted to equipment using
integrated heavy-duty magnets or fastening the unit into place using
screws. The GPS locator can help users find stolen or lost assets at any
time and an alarm notification alerts the user when the protected piece
of equipment has been disturbed or if someone tries to remove the
MobileLock unit. If the protected asset is disturbed, the alarm is
triggered and the contractor receives a call or e-mail notifying him or
her that there has been a security breech.
