Earth-Moving
Skid-steer loaders
The Caterpillar 216B, 226B, 236B, 246B (pictured) and 248B skid-steer loaders feature increased engine power and breakout force. The 248B uses the new Cat XPS hydraulic system, a load-sensing, pressure-compensating system that can deliver maximum power regardless of engine speed. For customers requiring a smaller machine to operate hydraulically powered work tools, a high-flow option is available on the 226B. All models feature an improved hydraulic system that reduces the number of potential leak points and improves reliability and cleanliness.

Excavators
Kubota introduces three new zero-tail-swing excavators, adding the U15, U25 and U45 models to the U-series lineup. These 1.5-ton, 2.5-ton and 4.5-ton excavators, respectively, are designed for work in tight spaces. The new U-series models are designed to move with no rear overhang beyond the width of the tracks, to provide superior operator visibility and to include numerous operator control and comfort features. The hydraulic systems on all three models can accommodate a variety of attachments, such as breakers and augers, and the auxiliary hydraulic connections are located within easy reach, incorporating short hoses that are less easily tangled or damaged.

Lifting
Boom
The Haulotte HA 130 JRT 130-foot articulating boom is designed to use its high articulation point of 58 feet, 3 inches, to negotiate around obstacles, and to use the boom articulation design to come back down without using the arm. The HA 130 JRT also features a maximum 63-foot horizontal outreach; standard 4-wheel drive and steer; extending and oscillating axles; and continuous outreach control. It also offers a hydraulic differential lock and 15-inch ground clearance for improved rough-terrain capability. Full proportional controls and simultaneous boom functions improve functionality. Working area is improved via a positive/negative movement articulated fly jib with 140-degree arc of movement.

Hoists
Alimak Hek's Champion hoists operate on a rack and pinion elevator drive and offer both rooftop and manual control. With a total base unit weight of 9,000 pounds, and a traveling capacity of 6,000 pounds, the hoists are powered by a variable frequency drive motor control, offering maximum car speeds of up to 175 feet per minute.

For Contractors
Plate compactors
Multiquip's MVC-80 Series vibratory plate compactors feature a new anti-vibration handle system that reduces operator fatigue while boosting productivity. With centrifugal force of 2,925 pounds, the MVC-80s are suited to compacting granular soils and asphalt. At maximum speed, the unit can compact up to 72 feet of material per minute. The forward plate compactors are offered with 5.7-hp Robin and 5.5-hp Honda gasoline engines and have exciter speeds of 5,580 rpm. Other standard features include a 13.7-quart plastic water tank that is easy to remove and requires no plumbing or installation and a lifting bale for pickup, eliminating the need to use a lifting strap or hookup.

Cut-off saw
The ICS 613GC cut-off saw weighs 21 pounds and is capable of plunge cutting to 14 inches. It will cut a square opening with no over-cuts in material as thick as 12 inches. The 613GC is powered by an 80-cc, 5.7-hp, 2-cycle gas engine. It has an advanced air intake and filtration system designed for wet-cutting aggregate materials. Air intake is isolated from the saw body and has a labyrinth air passage with increased chamber sealing.

Generator sets
New low-emissions rental generator sets from Cummins Power Generation are designed for clean, quiet operation to meet EPA emissions standards. Intended for temporary power applications, the 60 kW, 100 kW, 150 kW, 230 kW and 500 kW trailer-mounted diesel generator sets feature enhanced performance, increased running time and easy operator access for maintainability.

Brent Barwick, regional sales manager for Cummins Power Generation, says the generator sets are designed from the ground up to be safe, reliable and easy to use. "Unlike some other generator sets that are merely engine-generators on a trailer, these new rental generator sets are a configured rental package that can be easily adapted to any power application in the field."
