Skid-steer loaders
Bobcat's K-Series skid-steer
loaders (S130 through S300) feature the SmartFan cooling system, a
hydraulically driven cooling fan that senses machine operating
temperatures and self-regulates to rotate only as fast as it needs to.
The temperature-controlled, variable-speed fan optimizes the cooling
needs of the loader and can be 30-percent quieter in some operating
conditions. The K-Series loaders continue to feature the Bobcat
dual-path cooling system, which brings in cool, clean air from above
through the oil cooler and radiator and pulls hot air from the engine
and hydrostatic area exiting out two side vents. This design reduces
dirt and debris restrictions in the cooling system and minimizes debris
in the engine compartment.

For Contractors
Earth saw
The Kwik-Trench earth saw from Little Beaver features a simple,
push-forward design that meets the shallow trenching needs of rental
centers, contractors and golf course superintendents for applications
such as residential lawn sprinkler systems, electronic dog fencing,
low-voltage wiring, plumbing and drainage lines and more. The
mini-trencher's compact size allows operators to get into areas
inaccessible to full-size trenchers. With cutting speeds of up to 30
feet per minute, the Kwik-Trench is also designed to cut backfill time
by making clean, narrow trenches and depositing the spoil net to the
trench.

Hacksaw
CS Unitec's portable
pneumatic hacksaw is designed with the power and durability to stand up
to demanding cutting applications, such as onsite cold cutting of pipe,
structural steel or tanks, including pipe repair and demolition
applications. The hacksaw has a stroke of 2 3/8-inches and zero to 350
strokes per minute. It will cut 24-inch diameter pipe in one pass and
can be used manually or with an automatic feed device. The hacksaw is
particularly useful for working in confined spaces, and because it is
air powered, it is safer for use in hazardous environments. It can be
attached to an accessory clamp to allow 90-degree cuts.

Masonry saw
The 4101RH 5-inch masonry saw from Makita is designed for wet cutting
tile, masonry and concrete. It features a 7.9-amp motor and a special
cover design that prevents water from entering the motor housing. It
cuts up to 1 3/8 inches at 90 degrees and 13/16 inches at 45 degrees.
The unit also includes 15 feet of tubing, a water pressure regulator and
a water valve.

Generators
Subaru Robin introduces a
new line of compact gasoline generators powered by its EX series
overhead cam engines. The new generator models include the RGX2900,
RGX3600, RGX4800 and RGX4800E, offering maximum outputs ranging from
2,900 watts to 4,800 watts. The generators are powered by engines in the
6-hp to 9-hp range. The generators are lighter and smaller than previous
models because of the compact design of the EX engine. All RGX
generators include a standard anti-icing feature, which draws air warmed
by the engine into a tube and redirects it to the air intake.

Scrub brush
The power scrub brush from Grassroots Technology
can be used in many applications, such as scrubbing brick and stone
patios, cleaning decks, or scrubbing oil spots on garage floors. It can
also be used to sweep stones, rock and gravel from hard surfaces or
turf. Roofing contractors and sports field managers also have
applications where the power brush provides a solution. Available as a
complete unit or as an attachment, it fits all of the company's MulchPRO
and MulchFluffer models. The product also comes with a rubber
splashguard. The scrub brush gives users 14 inches of total scrubbing
width.

Pressure washers
Shark Pressure Washers, a
line engineered specifically for the rental industry, introduces two
extra-small, gasoline-powered hot water pressure washers that deliver
cleaning power of up to 2,400 psi, and weigh less than 400 pounds. The
new SGP-Mini needs no battery to power the burner. A constant supply of
12-volt DC power is produced by a newly designed Robin engine, coupled
with Shark's super-duty regulator. The SGP-Mini produces a water stream
of up to 2.7 gpm. The units are powered by 6- and 7-hp Robin engines.

Stump grinder
The Morbark D 76 SP 4x4 stump
grinder is designed to get to the stump faster and grind it quicker.
With a 76-foot boom swing arc, the operator is able to grind more of the
stump without repositioning the grinder. The hydrostatic drive to the
cutter head provides efficiency and torque to power through tough
stumps. The hydrostatic system provides for cooler running components,
which extends component life and generates less heat for increased
operator comfort. The hexagon-shaped cutter wheel provides for less
resistance and friction when grinding through the stump. Flange bearings
assist cutter wheel productivity by minimizing exposure to dirt, which
puts less drag on the cutter wheel.

Recyclers Cross Atlantic to Tour
Owners of the first track Beast in the United Kingdom traveled
4,500 miles to Remus, Mich., to tour the facilities and meet with the
developers of their primary piece of equipment, the Bandit Beast
Recycler, at Bandit
Industries earlier this year.
Brothers Gavin and Terry Griffith of Griffiths Pallet Services, Ltd.,
made the journey across the Atlantic seeking a custom chipping head for
their Beast that would be better suited for their needs in the wood
pallet recycling business.
The brothers have been in operation together for nearly 10 years and
have approximately 25 employees at their recycling company in Swansea
County, Wales. They bought their first Beast Recycler in 2001 and have
since acquired a Beast Track model, the first of its kind in Europe.
They now have two Beast machines in operation: the 3680 Beast Towable
and the 3680 Beast Track. It is the only piece of machinery they use for
chipping.
"We'd ran a number of machines before we went on to the Beast," Gavin
says. "And we've been very happy with the Beast product." Compared to
other machines they had tried, Gavin says the Beast is more reliable.
The Griffith brothers' situation is unique in the type of chipping that
they do. The custom head that was designed for their Beast Recycler has
been found to increase productivity in a number of applications and has
subsequently been integrated as an optional feature on Beast Models 2680
and 3680.
Touring the facilities at Bandit Industries has further increased the
Griffith brothers' confidence in Bandit and its products. "We're very
happy with what we've seen here," Gavin says. "And we're very confident
in seeing the backup that they can give to the UK agent. And with the
new head now [on the Beast], it's made me a very happy man."
