Excavator-tool carrier
Ditch Witch adds the new
XT1600 excavator-tool carrier, designed to perform the job of three
machines: a backhoe loader, mini-excavator and compact track loader.
Equipped with a 59-hp diesel engine, the TX1600 is a ride-on unit that
features a 260-degree excavator sweep that enables the operator to dig
in multiple positions in confined places, including offset digging along
walls, fences and buildings.
"The XT1600 has a relatively small footprint, which is an advantage in
terms of maneuvering around tight jobsites and also in terms of
transport," says Mike Lumbers, Ditch Witch senior compact utility
product manager. "At only 9,500 pounds, it allows a variety of trailer
and towing options."

Skid-steer loader
Gehl's new model 7810E skid-steer
loader is built to have the power, strength and speed needed for most
any construction application. The machine is powered by a Cummins 99-hp
turbo-charged diesel engine with 305 foot-pounds of torque. It has an
increased load capacity of 3,850 pounds and has the power and hydraulic
capabilities for breaking, hauling and grinding equipment, digging and
moving materials and more.
"The 7810E has a host of features, including true vertical-lift
linkage, which provides consistent forward reach throughout the entire
lift cycle," says Kelly Moore, skid loader product manager for Gehl. "A
lift height of nearly 12 feet is the highest in the industry."

Skid-steer loaders
New Holland's nine models
of Super Boom skid-steer loaders range from 14.4 net hp to 74 net hp,
with rated operating capacities from 600 to 2,800 pounds. Designed for
tough jobs, the models have productivity-boosting features including the
Super Boom vertical lift linkage for greater reach. All Super Boom skid
steers are designed with a long wheelbase, which keeps the center of
gravity low for better load-carrying capability and greater lift
capacity per pound of machine. An optional high-flow hydraulic system
provides a total flow of 34 gallons per minute to power
high-productivity attachments, such as augers and hydraulic hammers.

For Contractors
Generators
Yanmar's YDG model generators
deliver non-fluctuating portable diesel power in 2,700-, 3,700- and
5,000-watt ratings. A single tank of diesel will keep the
direct-injected, air-cooled diesel gensets on the go for up to 15 hours,
depending on load factors. Yanmar's LV Tier 2 air-cooled diesel engines
have parts and service support available throughout the Americas.
Auto-return decompression allows for starts in all conditions, even
below zero-degree conditions. Users can choose between 110-volt,
240-volt or 12-volt DC. Optional electric start is available on all
three models of the series.

Hydraulic breakers
Ingersoll Rand's SC Series of
hydraulic breakers consists of five breakers for carriers up to 8.3
tons. Two accessories -- a bucket and a tamper -- can be mounted
onto the breaker without altering hydraulic connections. The new
breakers not only break up materials, but with the clip-on bucket, they
can be used to clear away debris. The breakers can also be converted to
a hydraulic tamper, without altering hydraulic connections, and used to
compact the aggregate. The compact profile of the breakers makes it
easier to maneuver in hard-to-reach work areas.

Generators
Mi-T-M manufactures a full line
of portable generators for the rental and construction industries. The
3,200- and 4,300-watt inverter generators feature inverter technology
that reduces size, weight, noise and fuel consumption and produces
commercial quality AC power for sensitive electronic equipment. The
generators feature Subaru OHC engines with low-oil shutdown and electric
start. The generators also feature sound-reducing materials that are
fire resistant, 4-wheel roll cage design, fuel shutoff valve, battery
charging, voltmeter, hour meter, and double-wall acoustical housing.

Trailers
Rogers' TAG Series
trailers, available in 20- and 25-ton capacity, now include dual-spring
E-Z Flip rear ramps. The TAG20L has a 20-ton capacity and features a
19-foot flat deck with a 6-foot beavertail. The most recent addition,
the TAG20XXL features a 22-foot flat deck and a 6-foot beavertail. The
TAG25L, a 3-axle, 25-ton model has a 19-inch flat deck with a 6-foot
beavertail. The TAG25XXL features a 22-foot deck and a 6-foot
beavertail. All TAG20 and TAG25 models include an 8-degree ramp and
beavertail loading angle for the safe and easy loading and unloading of
a variety of machines including excavators and paving equipment.

The BCZ3000S has a large, 2.5-inch clutch in a metal housing to reduce
breakage and slippage. A rubber anti-vibration system, ergonomic
soft-grip loop handle and single-action flexible trigger work together
to reduce operator fatigue.

Case Steps Into Biodiesel
In response to rising fuel prices, future fuel supply concerns and
its customers' owning- and-operating costs, Case Construction Equipment has
approved the use of B5 blends (5 percent biodiesel and 95 percent
petroleum-based diesel) in all of its mechanical engines.
The global full-line manufacturer also announced that the use of B20
blends (20 percent biodiesel and 80 percent petroleum-based diesel) is
possible on all Case engines other than electronic engines and those in
the Case 410 and 420 skid-steer loaders. Owners should see their local
Case dealer for more information on specific biodiesel applications.
"Our customer-focused strategy helps us understand just how important
lower owning-and-operating costs are to the people who buy our
machines," says Jim McCullough, president of Case Construction
Equipment. "We're taking every step we can to help customers be more
productive, competitive and profitable. We're also well aware of the
finite availability of fossil fuels; for all these reasons, we are
investigating a variety of alternatives like biodiesel."
Biodiesel, which is produced from vegetable-based oils derived from
renewable resources such as North American-grown soybeans, is used in
various processed mixes with standard petroleum diesel. It has been
heralded as an alternative fuel with the ability to lower emissions and
help reduce dependence on imported oil.
"We do not intend to stop at B5 and B20 in our quest to help customers
reduce their operating costs," McCullough says. "Case is committed to
working with its partners to push toward higher-level biodiesel blends
that will be compatible with future low-emissions-compliant engines.
We've initiated aggressive field tests to evaluate the performance of
Case engines with 100 percent biodiesel."
While the long-term effects of biodiesel in higher-blend ratios have yet
to be confirmed with current production engines, Case continues to study
the impacts of those applications.
Case will also continue to work closely with the Engine Manufacturers
Association's Biodiesel Task Force subcommittee, which works to advance
biodiesel research. "Our research, and our work with the Biodiesel Task
Force and other organizations, will build the foundation of our future
with this fuel source," McCullough says.
B5 blends must meet the requirements of U.S. Standard ASTM6751 on the
base biodiesel stock. When using blends higher than 20 percent,
equipment owners should consult their Case Construction Equipment
dealer.
