Earth-Moving
Land plane
John Deere's Worksite Pro Land Plane is a simple mechanical skid-steer attachment used to complete the final grade on both flat and sloping ground. With no hydraulic parts to wear out, it's ideal for tight spaces close to buildings and makes short work of ground that needs grading, leveling, ripping or sifting.

Compact track loaders
Case Construction Equipment expands its line of compact track loaders with the addition of the 420CT (pictured) and the 440CT, rated at 56 and 82 net hp, respectively. The dozer-style undercarriages on the compact track loaders are designed with customer input and are built for minimum exposure to material and moisture. An angled track frame and material scrapers decrease mud and material buildup. Steel-embedded tracks roll on rubber instead of steel for a longer-lasting track and a smoother ride.

"Case compact track loaders require less maintenance and are easier to maintain compared to suspension track systems because we use a rigid track frame with no moving parts," says Jim Hughes, Case brand marketing manager.

Skid-steer loaders
Gehl's line of E-Series skid loaders features six models with rated operating loads ranging from 1,175 pounds to 2,900 pounds when equipped with optional counterweights. Low-effort, servo-hydraulic controls deliver precise response for added productivity. The All-Tach universal-type quick-attach system makes changing attachments fast and easy. For added convenience, Gehl offers an optional Power-A-Tach system that lets users quickly connect and disconnect attachments without leaving the seat on the four larger models. A 2-speed option allows top speeds of more than 11 mph on the 4640E and 4840E models, and up to 12.5 mph on the 5640E and 6640E models.

Stanley Stangler, owner and operator of Watertown Plastic Fence and Country Estate in Watertown, Wis., uses the 4840E model for digging holes for fences. He appreciates the easy quick attach system the unit offers because he changes attachments three or four times a day. He also enjoys the 2-speed option because it enables him to get around the field quickly. "You make better time," he says. "They shouldn't sell it without 2-speed."

Compact excavator
The IHI crawler carriers range from 4,960 pounds to 29,040 pounds with a payload ranging from 5,500 pounds to 22,000 pounds. Even with such high payloads, the average ground pressure ranges from 3.6 to 7.7 psi. Each of the four crawler carriers has two-speed travel, a water-cooled diesel engine, and a 2-range hydrostatic transmission. The crawler carriers also take a wide array of attachments ranging from digger derricks to hydraulic swivel dump buckets and a man-lift.

Lifting
Hoist
Power Climber releases the newest member of the PC3 traction hoist family -- the 110-V model. It features load-sensitive traction to reduce wire rope consumption, built-in overspeed brake to eliminate out-of-compliance operation, and broad operating voltage range to reduce downtime. Both models, like the air-powered PC3s are designed to be significantly easier to operate, upgrade and service than legacy hoists. Reduction in rental fleet maintenance costs is achieved with the PC3, the company says.

Ken Buettner, president of York Scaffold Equipment Corp. is pleased with the easy maintenance between rentals of the PC3. "Hoist motors are challenged by torturous weather, low-voltage situations and rough jobsite conditions," Buettner says. "Add to that the need to perform quick and thorough maintenance in between customer rentals. The PC3 hoists in our rental fleet have risen to those challenges and proven to be a winner on all counts."
