ANLA's Leadership on Immigration Gains Broad Support from American Business Community
The American Nursery and Landscape Association's (ANLA) national leadership on immigration reform has earned increasing visibility and financial support in recent weeks. As debate in the House and Senate moves toward the enactment of legislation, ANLA, who co-chairs the Agriculture Coalition for Immigration Reform (ACIR), has been called upon for its expertise and to leverage significant financial contributions from outside the green industry.

PLANET Develops Safety Tips Sheet for Green Industry Businesses
The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) recently announced that its series of four bilingual (English/Spanish) Safety Tips Sheets are completed and available to the entire green industry at www.landcarenetwork.org/cms/programs/safety.html.

Each of the Safety Tips Sheets, developed as a product of the PLANET/OSHA Alliance, is a one-page script that can be downloaded from PLANET's Web site and used to train workers on four major hazards identified through the Alliance. The Safety Tips Sheets topics include slip and trip injuries, lifting-related injuries, defensive driving to avoid motor vehicle crashes and reducing the risk of amputations.

Golf Course Management Professionals Travel to New Orleans to Assist in Golf Course Facility Recovery
A group of 30 golf course management professionals, primarily from the Rocky Mountain region, recently headed to New Orleans to help four golf courses recover from Hurricane Katrina.

Under the direction of Vail (Colo.) Golf Club superintendent Steve Sarro, the group will meet in Colorado Springs and caravan to the Mississippi Delta, March 11. The TPC of Louisiana, English Turn Golf & Country Club and two municipal facilities (Audubon Golf Course and Brechtel Golf Course) have been targeted for clean up. English Turn will host the PGA Tour's Zurich Classic of New Orleans, April 27-30.

Meyer Products Announces New President
Meyer Products LLC recently announced that Andrew Outcalt has been named president of the 80-year-old snow and ice removal systems company.

He takes over the helm from Robert Balogh, who is retiring after a 30-year career with Meyer Products, the last seven as president of the company.

New technologies for achieving higher quality turf will be highlighted at this year's 10th Annual PACE Turfgrass Research Seminar to be held April 7 at the Catamaran Resort Hotel in San Diego.
